SUPERVISED APARTMENTS PROGRAM

It is a communitarian residential resource arranged into normal apartments in which three people of the same sex presenting a chronic mental disorder live together. They are intended as an extra step in the process of psychosocial rehabilitation and acquisition of autonomy.
Currently, Fundacion Manantial administrates SEVEN supervised apartments in Madrid, offering a total of 20 rooms. A part of the resource's cost must be paid by the users themselves.
1. Providing a accommodation, support and living together resource as normalized as possible in order to facilitate maintenance in society in the best conditions of autonomy and quality of life.
2. Promoting and making possible the process of psychosocial and communitarian integration of every user.
Any person with a chronic mental disorder who requests it. To begin the application process an interview appointment will be required. The evaluation consists in a thorough collection of the candidate's information: clinical, social and rehabilitation report petition, interviews with the professionals, contact with family members or close friends and a psychosocial interview with the applicant.
For a person to be able to access a SA it is necessary to modify his profile to that of a user, who generally speaking, is in compliance with the following requirement areas:
1. Medication area: Be able to take medication without aid, be aware of their medical condition and to be in a stable psychopathologic condition.
2. Domestic autonomy area: Possess basic hygiene habits, home organization and food preparation skills.
3. Relationship area: Do not present aggressive behavior and respect relationships with others.
A SA offers flexible, individualized and continuous support through residential visits, phone calls and provision of company. It's support-type supervision, (not 24 hours), through daily or every-other-day visits depending on existing necessities and requirements. Furthermore users require support adapted to their work schedule. This support will be offered on a continuous basis, and will never be fully withdrawn , however high the levels of autonomy achieved. A priority in this kind of work is the active participation of the users, regarding the care and maintenance of the apartment, as well as the decisions in relation to the organization and functions.
