BACKGROUND


Fundacion Manantial is a non-profit guidance organization, declared a charitable health care entity in the Register of August 2, 1995 and registered in the Archive-Registry of the Agency for Social Action for Minors and Families, a division of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (no. 28/1001-BOE 19/09/95).

It is also registered in Section I, 2nd Subsection of the Register of Entities for Social Action and Services of the Madrid Autonomous Region with Register Number E1432.4.

Its origins date back to 1995, a result of the initiative of the associations for families of people with chronic mental illnesses, who felt the need to create an organization which could assume the guidance of people with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) and which could give an integral and effective solution to the problems related to mental health, specifically those related to their legal, social and employment situation.


MISSION

According to its Statutes FUNDACIÓN MANANTIAL's MISSION is the integral care of people suffering from severe and persistent mental illness.

This mission focuses on three objectives, materialized in three areas of action:



- The assumption and exercise of guidance duties commended to FUNDACIÓN MANANTIAL by the legal authorities.

- The promotion and management of residential, psychosocial rehabilitation, de occupational rehabilitation resources and any other resources for people suffering from SPMI.

- The creation of jobs for people with SPMI through the creation of social economy enterprises, (special employment centers)which constitute a real alternative for accessing the job market.


Our mission is to provide social and integral services to people with severe and persistent mental disorders.

Once constituted by the legal statutes, Fundacion Manantial proposed the first steps to follow in order to attain its objectives. Among them is the assumption of the guidance of people with chronic and persistent mental disorders (the first one dating back to 1997), the creation of Fundacion Manantial's Information and Orientation Service (1997) and the opening of the first resource for the provision of social care (supervised accommodation in Fuencarral, 1997). From that year on, the Foundation has grown considerably as can be perceived from its current organization and expansion, increasing the number of its guidance centers, social resources, hired professionals, people with chronic and persistent mental disorders admitted, as well as the initiation of other activities with the purpose of attaining its objectives.

Besides these resources, Fundación Manantial is developing other kinds of entrepreneurial initiatives directed towards the creation of jobs for people with severe and persistent mental disorders through a Special Employment Center, called Manantial Integra , S.L.U, created in March, 2003.

Fundacion Manantial is the FOUNDING PARTNER and PRESIDENT of FUTUPEMA (Association of Guidance Foundations for Associated Persons with Mental Disorders) and chairman of its board of directors since its creation in the year 2004.
