SUPERVISED APARTMENTS AT "FUENLABRADA"

1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Supervised Apartments at "Fuenlabrada" are included in the resources network, and are a part of the Social Care Plan for People with severe, chronic and persistent mental disorders of the Council for Family and Social Affairs of the Community of Madrid. The plan has been managed by Fundación Manantial since its implementation in December, 2007, through a concession agreement for the administration of public services.

The Supervised Apartments at "Fuenlabrada" constitute a communitarian residential resource arranged in regular apartments inserted in a social environment, in which 4 people with chronic mental disorders will be able to live and cohabit.

The multidisciplinary team working in these resources focuses on rendering residential care and social support to help users with functional difficulties maintain the best conditions of personal autonomy and quality of life, avoiding situations which could risk alienation or institutionalization.

The functions of this team are:

  • Support, training and supervising the residents during the performance of the various daily tasks of personal and domestic care.
  • Fostering contact between the residents and the Mental Health Services.
  • Supervising the development of daily-life activities and cohabiting of the residents, ensuring the resource functions properly.
  • Promoting and favoring socio-communitarian integration of the residents in a social environment. This is done by facilitating and supervising the contact and use of educational, recreational and other necessary resources, coordinating with the corresponding General Social Services.
  • Promoting the organization of activities of the residents inside and outside the resource, by adjusting to the various individual and group necessities.
