SUPERVISED APARTMENTS OF ARGANDA DEL REY

1. TENURE

The supervised apartments of Arganda del Rey are a residential housing alternative for people with severe and chronic mental disorders. Fundacion Manantial administrates 3 supervised apartments in Arganda del Rey through an agreement with the General Direction of Social Services of the Community of Madrid. These apartments are a part of the Social Care Plan for people with Severe and Chronic mental disorders of the Council for Family and Social Affairs of the Community of Madrid. Each one of these apartments has 4 rooms and is closely coordinated with the mini-residencies of reference in Area 1.

2. SANITARY AREA

These supervised apartments are located in the municipality of Arganda del Rey, and inserted in the same community. The derivation from and access to the supervised apartments is done through the CSM of reference in Sanitary Area 1.

4. OFFICE HOURS

In the supervised apartments we offer individualized support adapted to the necessities of the person, through residential visits, individualized training and accompaniment in order to provide the necessary support for an adequate maintenance of the person in the apartment, favoring the process of rehabilitation and integration to the community. Direct attention is carried on periodically by visiting the apartments, having 24 hours phone attention may there be any incidents.

5. WHAT IS A SUPERVISED APARTMENT? (MAIN CHARACTERISTICS)

The supervised apartments are a stable and normalized housing alternative for people with severe and chronic mental disorders. In the supervised apartments we will offer accommodation, personal and social attention, social and communitarian integration support with flexible supervision.

One of the main characteristics of the supervised apartments is their strict coordination with the mini-residence of reference.

The users come from the reference CSM, having previously passed by the mini-residence in order for the resource to assess the adequacy of admission, as well as to perform the necessary training for their progressive incorporation to the supervised apartments. Once the person is established in the apartment, the Mini-residence will serve as support in case it is needed.

6. PROFILE

The people that may be admitted to a supervised apartment have the following profile:

  • People with severe and persistent mental disorders whose psychosocial functions have been handicapped or suffer from a deficit which prevents them from integrating and functioning in a community with complete autonomy and independence.
  • Between 18 and 65 years of age. Both sexes.
  • To possess acceptable levels of personal and social autonomy which allow them to face the challenges of life and cohabitation in the apartments. Must not need 24 hour support or supervision offered by the Residences.
  • Be taken care of and come from the Mental Health Services belonging to the districts of the reference area included in the sector where the supervised apartments are located.
  • To have the need for housing and support and not have the necessary support from family members due to absence, inadequacy or impossibility that would allow them to live with an acceptable quality of life.

7. OBJECTIVES: AREAS OF INTERVENTION

  • To provide a housing and cohabitation resource and normalized support in order to facilitate the individual's maintenance in society in the best possible conditions and with an adequate quality of life.
  • To promote and make possible the process of psychosocial rehabilitation and integration to the community of each person, supporting in as much as possible the development of their personal and social autonomy favoring proper social behavior through the performance of valuable and normal social roles.
  • Avoid processes of deterioration, abandonment and/or social alienation.
  • Avoid processes of chronification and/or institutionalization of people without family or social support, but who maintain good levels of autonomy.

In the supervised apartments we provide support and give training to foster and guarantee an adequate maintenance of the person in the apartment, the cohabitation with the roommates, the improvement of interpersonal relations and leisure, as well as the necessary emotional, psychological and personal support.
